Restoration of a vintage, mid-twentieth century travel agency model can involve as little as a good cleaning, replacement of a missing part or two, or it may require complete refurbishment. The goal is always to do as little as possible to make the piece presentable; but one must always take into account the stability of the original finishes if long-term preservation is a concern.
